On 28 January three of the TuckIN team went to Telephone House, London to present to a panel of judges the three reasons why the Essex Food Liaison Group should win the 2019 LGC Awards for the Public Health Category, for TuckIN Making Food Better.

We were also shortlisted in 2017.

This year the number of entries was around 560 and only 165 were selected as finalists.

The judging was by David Buck, Senior Fellow of the Kings Fund, Zina Etheridge the Chief Executive of Haringey, Dominic Harrison, Director of Public Health at Blackburn and Darwen Borough Council and Judith Richardson, the Deputy Medical Director and Programme Director of Quality and Leadership at NICE.

They asked a range of challenging questions after the presentation which we answered fully. Particularly encouraging was David Buck who explained that he was very pleased to see Environmental Health Officers in the category of Public Health.

We find out if we have won at the awards ceremony on 13 March at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London
